Story of Our Post and its Name
American Legion Prescott Valley Post 108 was founded in 1982 by Veterans living in Prescott Valley. Keith Staker and his wife Carm were one of the founding members of the post. Carm, the former Mayor of Prescott Valley and her husband Keith, were instrumental in recruiting new members for the post. Our post is named for SFC Gary Eugene Streeter who had volunteered for a mission to recover the remains of soldiers who had been killed in a helicopter crash. SFC Streeter knew it was dangerous, but he also knew somebody had to go. He was killed in that recovery mission in another helicopter crash on February 27, 1991.
