Announcements/Upcoming Events

• Food drives for the PV Food Bank. Bring canned food to our meetings and the church will take it over to the food bank.

• Agreement with PVUMC for our Meetings finalized and signed for 2025

• Post 140 surrendered their Charter. 20 DEC 2024. Unit 140 still in existence

• Bingo at VA DOM – 21 JAN at 1815-ish. The ladies with the Lioness group will continue their quilt donations.

• MOD Pizza fund raiser on 21 JAN – all day event

• District 8 Meeting 8 FEB, Post 90, (Memorial, Karen Litt and Greg Jones)

• Next Post Meeting - 11 FEB 2025

• Next Flag Day – 17 FEB 2025, President’s Day

• FEB 18 – PV Culvers Fundraiser

• Auxiliary, Trish Aljets let us know that they are now part of Fry’s community rewards program, make sure to link your rewards card to our auxiliary unit.

• Potential conflict with our meeting on 11 NOV and Veterans Day the same day

• Post Meeting:

A. Roll Call/Quorum is present, Adjutant. 28 Members and 5 guests in attendance.

● Minutes of DEC meeting – Emailed. John Moffitt made a motion to suspend the reading of the minutes and accept them as published. Seconded by Bob Singer, passed.

● Finance Report – Emailed, Finance Officer. Motion made by Bill Hudson to approve the report as presented subject to audit, seconded by John Moffitt, passed.

B. Introduction of guests, prospective and new members: SGT at Arms

● Guests: We have several Post 140 members join us, Greg Staley, Wayne Nelson, Joe Kronewitter, Steve Davis. In addition, a transfer from California Doug Donahoe, and new member Barry Walter.

C. Certificates and Recognition

● Post received Christmas cards from the Bank, Department of AZ, and Gary Vaughn District 11 Commander and candidate for Dept Commander.

D. Committee reports.

● Membership – 1st Vice, 2025 goal 90 members. Currently at 86 have renewed for 95.6% of goal. District 8 is at 79.9% and should reach the 80% buy Wednesday.

● Fund Raising Report –

• Mod Pizza – JAN 21st (All Day) Bring the flyer or make sure the casher knows you are there for Post 108

• Culvers – FEB 18th, from 1700 to 2000 hrs. We will need at least 4 servers to help

• Red Robin – 18 MAR (ALR) This will be all day,

• Texas Roadhouse –1 APR from 1600 to 2000 hrs and will be able to set up table out front.

● Flag Project – Schmidt, working on getting 3 new tags ready to go on flag poles. Let our new members know that the tags are $25 each and you get 3 lines to honor your veteran.

● ALR Report – ALR Director Dugan, no report

● Post Web Site – Keller, no report

● 2025 Oratorical – Anderson. Gary Taylor is still trying to recruit students, the deadline is 31 Jan. District 8 contest is set for 22 Feb at Post 25 Cottonwood.

E. 2025 Boy’s State – Anderson. Will contact Bradshaw Mt. High School to get students selected and registered. The Fund raiser at Jen’s 7th Ave Café collected about $500 and Jen will match that amount. Big thanks to Jen for her support.

F. Sick Call, Relief and Employment.

● Deceased:

• Sick: Ron Matthews, no updates. Kathy Keller is recovering from back surgery. Larry Kimmel.

● PV UMC Use Agreement - Completed

● Upcoming Election of Officers begin nominations with March Meeting

▪ Commander, 1st Vice, 2nd Vice, Finance Officer and 2 members at large

I. New business (and correspondence)

● American Legion Park Adoption. Post 140 had adopted the park. This will consist of checking on the park, and reporting on any issues to the Town that need to be addressed. Assist with picking up trash, and when flags need to be replaced request new flags from the city. Tim Roeder made a motion to adopt the American Legion Park in Prescott Valley, second by Joe Dugan. Passed. Greg Staley will let the Town know of the change and will work out a schedule to check on the park.

J. The Good of the American Legion?

● Service for Greg Jones will be held at Prescott National Cemetery on 30 Jan at 1400. The Staging for PGR flag line will be 1315. Mike Covell will take over as District Sgt-at-Arms for Greg.

● District 8 Picnic will be on 4 Oct at Goldwater Lake. Post 108 is the host post this year, and we will need to have cooks for the burgers and hot dogs.

● New project ideas/members willing to head up and/or participate in

● Looking for a Service Officer and 2nd Vice. If interested, please contact Commander Taylor.
