Announcements/Upcoming Events

• Celebration of life for Jeanne Singer to be held at CASA Senior Center in Prescott Valley. 21 Feb 1100 to 1300.

• Food drives for the PV Food Bank. Bring canned food to our meetings and the church will take it over to the food bank. 

• Post Fundraiser – 20 Feb at PV Arby’s 1600 to 2000.

• Next District 8 Meeting – 21 Feb at Post 90, Black Canyon City. E-Board at 1000, Lunch at 1200, and General meeting at 1300.  Nominations will be open for District Officers. 

• Next Bingo Night at VA DOM – 21April, 1830 to 2000 hrs. 

• Next Post Meeting – 10 March 2026, Potluck for Legion’s 107th Birthday.

• Next Flag Day – 16 FEB 2026, President’s Day

• PV Days Parade – 9 May at 0900. Entry is $50 for non-profits. This is the same date as the D8 meeting at Post 40. They are asking us for a color guard.

• Boys and Girls State Presentations at AAEC last month for 3 Jr. US History classes.   Will be starting interviews at BMHS on Thursday, 12 Feb.

• Kathy Keller is home and recovering from back surgery last week.

• No Announcements from the Auxiliary. 

• Post Meeting: 1845

• Roll Call/Quorum is present, Adjutant. 26 Members in attendance.

• Minutes from last meeting – Emailed. Bill Hudson made a motion to suspend the reading of the minutes and accept them as published.  Seconded by Bob Dorfman, passed.

• Finance Report – Emailed, Finance Officer. Motion made by Doug Keller to approve the report as presented subject to audit, seconded by Bob Singer, passed.

a. Department of Arizona is 2nd overall in membership.   

• Committee Reports.

a. Membership – 1st Vice: 2026 goal is 98 members. To date: 111 members have renewed/joined for 2026 thus far for 113.27% of goal. Total membership is 112

b. Fund Raising Report 2nd Vice – 

i. Arby’s set for 20 Feb 1600 to 2000.  Post receives 25% of sales and can have a table set up inside. 

ii. Culver’s – set for 3 March. Will need servers.

iii. Red Robin (ALR) - 7 April and this will be all day.

iv. Texas Roadhouse – 26 May, will be setting up table outside.

c. Flag Project – Hwy 69. 66 names, an additional 5 from a member of Post 6. 

d. ALR Report – No Report

f. 2026 Oratorical –D8 competition to be held on 28 Feb at Post 25, Cottonwood. Area C is 14 March at Camp Verde library.  State Competition will be in Peoria on 28 March. Our contestant from last year, Benna Sanders has entered. 

g. 2026 Boys State – Dates 31 May to 6 June at U of A in Tucson.  Nick Purdin, Rodger Rodriguez will assist with the selection process. 

h. Post Resource Officer’s Report – 

i. Working with 4 post members, had a post member walk in a Veteran to US Vets that needed housing. 

• Sick Call, Relief and Employment:  

a. Elton Anderson fell, is at the VA recovering.  John Moffitt has pneumonia. Kathy Keller at home recovering. 

• Post Everlasting – None

• District 8 Meeting Report-

a. Next meeting will be at Post 90, Black Canyon City on 21 Feb. E-Board at 1000, Lunch at 1200, and General Meeting at 1300.  

• Department Convention/Conference Report – Convention will be in June.

• Unfinished Business – 

a. CPR Hours and ALR miles, add to the logbook at the meetings or email to Ron Arrigoni

• New Business – 

a. Tim “Digger” Roeder has stepped down as Chaplain. Commander has appointed Deb Nowakowski to serve as Post Chaplain   

b. New Projects Ideas/Members willing to head up and/or participate in. Nothing. 

• For the Good of the Legion? 

a. PV Days parade, if we don’t provide a Color Guard, look at getting the Young Marines or BMHS JROTC. 

b. Traveling Liberty Bell replica will be in Prescott on 14 and 15 Feb.

c. Freedom Rock ribbon cutting will be on 24 June.  Any orders for bricks are due by the end of March. 

d. Greg Staley, we are changing the times for clean up at the American Legion park to 1130. This happens on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month.
